Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Planners tables.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
